Crown Molding for Shoe Rack(Image Source)

I found this idea on Pinterest and fell in love with it. It’s a great way to utilize a wall space and get those shoes off the closet floor.

This DIY project uses two different crown molding pieces to create a shoe rack. You can purchase the base and crown molding at your local hardware store. This tutorial on the Home Depot community forum explains the project step by step.

  • Measure your space to determine the length and number of molding pieces needed BEFORE you go to the hardware store.
  • If you don’t own a saw, ask a store associate to cut your molding.
  • Be sure to nail into the studs so your shelves are properly anchored. A stud finder will help you identify where the studs are inside the wall.
  • If you are looking for a simpler, but similar shoe rack, use one piece of molding instead of combing the base and crown pieces. Pro – it’s fewer steps, Con – the bottom of your shoes will rest against the wall.
