New Women’s Bible Study Book: The Home Experience

We are excited to begin a new bible study for the ladies of Betenbough Homes.  The title of it is “The Home Experience: Making Your Home a Sanctuary of Love and a Haven of Peace.”  Doesn’t that sound wonderful? We all need a place to retreat at the end of the day where we can experience love and peace. Sometimes we need a reminder that we should be intentional about creating this place within our homes.

The study focuses on how essential “home” is to what happens in the lives of those who live in that space. Whether you are single, married, or have children; it is from within your home that your heart is hardened, hurt, or made sensitive, soft and tender. Our home experience charts the direction of our lives.

In lesson one, the author Devi Titus says that our homes reflect our character. She is not talking about the size, color or style of the home. Instead she is talking about the order of the home.  1 Corinthians 14:33 says, “For God is not a God of disorder but of peace…” Devi makes the connection between order and peace.  When we bring order to our homes, we bring peace.

Devi’s aim is to restore value to our homes in our minds; to emphasize that what happens in our home molds and shapes the hearts of the people who live in that environment. We don’t intend to forget this or minimize the impact our homes can have in our lives,  we just slowly get involved in other activities. We find ourselves rushing through our lives, always in a hurry, pulled and tugged in a million directions and stressed out.  Instead, we can slow the pace down, stay at home and be still.  By bringing order, we can invite peace into our homes making them a place of love.

What areas of your home could use more order?
