Weekend DIY Projects and Decor Tips

Looking for a quick but cool way to update your guest bedroom or other areas of your home? We’ve got a few simple ideas in today’s blog. We recently were invited to take a┬átour of an employee home in Lubbock. Kristin and Alan Powell recently moved into a Kira floor plan and have found neat ways to personalize their home.

They took a cue from our Lubbock Parade home last June to create their own version of the window treatments. Kristin and Alan purchased wood plaques and iron hangers at Hobby Lobby and then used canvas drop clothes as curtains.

Quietude from Sherwin Williams provides a modern background for the window treatments.
A coffee bar in the corner is perfect for weekend mornings.

Kristin and Alan wanted a cozy space for friends or family to stay in when they visit. They found doors at a thrift shop in Lubbock and created a custom headboard from them!

In the living area, they perfectly hid their return air vent without blocking it! Kristin is the Ministry Media Coordinator and Alan, Architecture Team Lead Designer at the Betenbough Homes main office, so a drafting table was the perfect addition.

The drafting table can be found at World Market.
Alan’s architectural drawings add a personal touch to the living room.

We love how Kristin and Alan have personalized their home and can’t wait to see what other projects they have in store!
